Hi, I'm Kyla!

In my work as a Registered Dietitian, I’ve learned that the key to true well-being comes down to two main principles:

Learning to love your body as it is right now

Learning to care for your body by meeting your physical, mental, and emotional needs

No diets and no weight loss required. Just a genuine desire to love yourself.

I’d love to help you on your journey!

I am an Intuitive Eating Dietitian and Body Liberation Coach practicing virtually across Ontario

My Story

I have many years of experience working as a Registered Dietitian in medical clinics. I’ve helped hundreds of patients manage health conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease, gastrointestinal issues, and food intolerance, among many others.

What I found is that, almost without fail, the conversation came around to people hating their body, wanting to lose weight, and unnecessarily depriving themselves of foods they love. Everyone was so hyper-focused on weight loss that they overlooked targeted dietary recommendations that could actually help their condition. This applied almost across the board - even people with significant bowel issues were more worried about trying to lose weight!

And you know what? It’s not their fault! We live in a world where thinness is desired above all else. We’re told we’re not worthy unless we’re thin or at least trying to get thin.

I’ve been there too - in constant fear of gaining weight. I've lived in a thin body most of my life. In my younger years, despite my thinness, I always found myself drawn to “fat-burning” workouts, various forms of food restriction that I could never stick to that long, exercises to “tone my abs and butt”, pictures of the “perfect” body, and comparing myself to others. And all that, for what? I’m not really sure. It didn’t bring me joy, or pleasure, or fulfillment. It didn’t make me care more about myself. In fact, it kept me stuck feeling anxious and not good enough. I focused on actions that didn’t help, and overlooked behaviours that really could support my well-being.

Both personally and professionally, I wanted something else. Another way. So I set about trying to learn how to:

       get nourishment AND pleasure

       get movement AND rest

accept myself AND care for myself

       help others do the same!

My Approach

I use Health at Every Size®, intuitive eating, and anti-diet principles to help you reconnect to what's important - your food, your body, and your self-worth. We'll explore deeply ingrained diet culture messages that are holding you back from body acceptance, food freedom, and…just about anything else you want to accomplish! I provide you with knowledge, tools, and supports to get back to your own internal wisdom.
